Sometimes we like to do things the old-fashion way. That's why Holly
Help maintains an extensive scrapbook library consisting of over l2
full volumes of exciting Holly Help history. The information content
ranges from past advertising campaigns, photos of volunteers, events,
achievements, awards, media coverage, memorials, honorariums,
sponsorships, adoption photos, greeting cards, pictures of over 200
animals that have received spay and neuter assistance through our
organization, and much, much more. All scrapbook entries have been
placed into an interesting and educational arrangement. We welcome and
encourage any photographs you may have to share with us. We cannot
return originals, so, we recommend that you copy all sensitive
memorabilia, keep the original for yourself and send the copy to us.
Communications Connection at l3l5 Euclid Ave in Bristol offers a
quality color copy service for a very reasonable price.
It takes a very special breed of people to support the Holly Help Spay Fund.
Because we deal primarily with shelter animals and employ a trap-neuter-return program for feral cat colonies, it's a pretty sure bet that after all of our hard work, we will never see the end result. We will never play with all the puppies and kittens. We will never cuddle these little bundles of wonder wrapped in fur.
Once released, feral cats allow you only a glimpse from time to time, never to reach out and touch them. You will never hold or pet them.
Shelter animals stand poised half in the grave and the other half on a banana peel.
Both of these are the fortunate winners of assistance from The Holly Help Spay Fund. They have no cozy homes, no kind owners. They had no chance and no hope, knowing only solitude and despair.
It is Holly Help and its faithful supporters who sustain the strength to dig into the depths of their souls to provide that second chance and a dim ray of hope for the most desolate creatures of all feral cats and shelter animals.
And, when the day is done, these good people lie down to sleep with only a memory of the good they have accomplished that day in the life of an animal who had absolutely nothing before it met the folks behind Holly Help.
So, on behalf of every dog and cat who will never be born into a lonely life of want, this wish of gratitude is extended to every person who had the courage and the inner strength to undertake a thankless job for the good of another that is not even a member of their own species.
Thanks to all the special people who support the Holly Help Spay-Neuter Fund.
The Holly Help Spay Fund has so many people to thank for making us a
huge success and for keeping us successful in our mission to help
animals. Everyone is important to us!
The largest appreciation goes out foremost to our Creator in the
Heavens through whom all of this was made possible. Much thanks to
Petfinder and all of the forms of media for allowing us and others to
get our word out to the public, and to our webmasters who take precious
time out from their busy schedules to help make life better for animals
they will never see. Thanks goes out to those who remembered Holly Help
through their memorials, honorariums and sponsorships. For the
veterinarian and her staff who adopted a homeless and orphaned Spay
Fund and afforded it the opportunity to explore whatever avenues it
needed to grow. To those who had faith enough in this dream to reach
into their pockets to further the mission and to all who lent their
help in many different ways to advertise the intent and needs of Holly
Help. To the many, many individuals whose efforts have expended Holly
Help's quest for providing relief to animals, and to all of the area
businesses, especially those that have acted as drop-off points for our
aluminum cans and who have put up with the inconvenience of bulky bags
and sticky syrup. To the Sullivan County Animal Shelter for their
cooperation in working with Holly Help to assist shelter animals and to
Wise Recycling for their overwhelming and constant support. For the
people who have supplied the needed tools to accomplish the many jobs
associated with running a business, including the tow-behind trailer
that has made life much easier when hauling cans. For the other area
humane groups who lent of their labor and their time to insure that
Holly Help had a fighting chance in a world with no second chances. To
every person, man and woman, who heard a distant call for help and
responded so generously with their aluminum cans, especially those who
had to travel for long distances.
And lastly, to each pair of eyes with a wagging tail that echo throughout the pages of our lives and who will forever haunt the consciousness of right and wrong. Here is hoping that in some way, however large or small, these needy little lives will cause someone, somewhere, to reach out past themselves and give succor to those who need so desperately.
Thanks to one and all.
Coca Cola of Bristol: Generously donated plastic recycling containers. These attractive Coke Chests are helping us make a more esthetic recycling effort in the high profile business areas of our community.
Virginia High School: Special Education teacher, Jan Black, learned of Holly Help's need for aluminum cans. Ms. Black, along with teachers Cindy Alvis, Myrna Bush, and Sherry Sullivan have been making a colossal effort in that area by immediately placting recepticles at their school. Students deposit their drink cans into them and also receive credit for bringing cans from home. Jan has even gone one step further and has arranged for can collection recepticles to be placed at the Bristol Virginia Police Dept., The Janie Hammit Home, and an Abingdon muffler shop.
Food City Family Race Night: In our never-ending search for aluminum cans, Holly Help made its presense abailable on State Street during the Family Race Night. Cans collections recepticles were set in place early in the day and were accompanied by Holly Help signs. Katie Gemm was present for the entire day along with Chris Henry and Sue Williams showing up to work the last two hours. Special THANKS to Bristol Antiques, State Line Grill, and Acco Cowan for reserving space for Holly Help collection recepticles in front of their establishments. Also, a big Thank You to Chris Henry for the last minute stenciling of the signs. Last, but not least, to Food City and all the vendors for making the entire event possible. A total of 108 pounds of cans was collected at this event and will be used immediately to spay an area pet. Anyone interesting in helping collect cans at the next Family Race Night is welcome to contact Sue.

You...the public: Word travels fast...and FAR! Holly Help receive bags of aluminum cans from Bristol, surrounding towns, and other states including North Carolina. We have also received financial support from generous folks from eastern Virginia cities (Roanoke, Hampton, Newport News, Virginia Beach), Ohio, Massachusetts, California, and even Belgium! We appreciate every caring person who, regardless of residence, find their hearts with ours.
Northeast State Technical College: In late 2003, Holly Help met with representatives from Northeast State where an aliance was formed to begin aluminum can recycling efforts for area animals. We express special gratitude for the help of Rena Robinette and Dr. Laura Barnett.
Holly Help is comprised of hundreds of folks in our community (and a
few from far away as well), who are interested in making a difference
for area animals. We thinkof each person as part of the 'Holly Help
Family'. Here is a list of both Holly Helpers and businesses that are
joined together to make o
ur community a better place for dogs and cats to live. Please consider

MOTHERS, TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL: There is no better place to learn or
teach compassion and pride than in our school system. Several area
schools have realized this and are actively supporting Holly Help in
our effort to recycle aluminum cans for animals. If your school is
involved, please contact us and we will promptly ad them to our list.
If they have not yet heard of our endeavor and you would like to see a
recycling program for aluminum cans instituted at your school, we will
be happy to get one started. We have recycling bins on hand and ready
for distribution to our schools.
